CHAMPION
CRESCENT - PHILOSOPHY OF CARE
Responding to ARBD
At a general level we create environments which have proven to be
helpful in compensating for the disabling effects of ARBD through
providing:
 |
A
high degree of structure and predictability |
 |
A
range of activities which can help service users with memory
deficits |
 |
Strategies
for reducing stress and anxiety |
 |
A
calming, non-judgemental environment |
 |
High
levels of informed staff support |
 |
Pro-activity
in developing relationships and social opportunities |
At
an individual level we design programmes to help service users overcome
the disabling effects of ARBD, focussing on the positive aspects
of their situation, promoting personal development and valued social
roles.
 |
Service
users are involved in all aspects of their care with an ethos
of work activity and life skills. |
 |
All
plans are agreed with other agencies involved, working jointly
between ourselves and social services |
 |
The
service user's family also have a part to play in the treatment
and rehabilitation of the service user |
 |
The
care plan acts as a contract between the unit and the service
user |
 |
Service
users are given every opportunity to succeed and the unit
will be adaptive enough to accommodate the changing needs
of each service user
