OUR
REHABILITATIVE PRINCIPLES
We promote participation in non-alcohol related pursuits, which
are offered on the unit as well as within the local community.
We offer structured personal hygiene routines, memory work such
as diary keeping and crosswords.
We have standards as regards the prescription of thiamine, assessments,
terms of residence, medical management and key working systems.
We have access to specialist alcohol practitioners within the local
community which we access should the service user require this element
of support.
Our whole care programme is designed to assist the individual to
lead an alcohol free life once discharged from us.
We believe that the individual's family and friends are fundamental
to the person's recovery and we always encourage this at every opportunity.
We believe in a fully trained and supported workforce, who is empowered
to work with individuals on a one to one basis as well as in group
settings.
Referral criteria
Champion
Crescent takes referrals from all over the country. We tend to advise
referrers that people who they refer must have a formal diagnosis
of the condition and that the condition must not have been present
for longer than 3 years, although we have had success with people
who have had Korsakoffs for many years.
